Gambar

Liberty Heap was out for a duck in the first over, and captain and key batter Grace Scrivens was the second of two wickets to fall in the fourth. From 16-3, India continued to take regular wickets, including Archana Devi's diving one-handed catch and Soumya Tiwari's direct hit run-out. England had advanced to the final with flying colors, but were outclassed by an India team that included two full internationals, including captain Shafali Verma. The superstar opener was caught for 15 in the third over of the chase, dropping India to 20-2, but her team still won by seven wickets and six overs. When the final runs were scored, the Indian players rushed onto the field to celebrate their first victory in a women's World Cup.

On Rod Laver Arena, Hijikata and Kubler triumphed 6-4 7-6 (7-4) in front of a boisterous home crowd. The two, who hadn't previously played together, defeated seven top-20 ranked pairs to advance to the championship match. Kubler added, "I don't know what to say - it's a pleasant surprise. Hijikata and Kubler outclassed their rivals, who are doubles experts but were playing in their first Grand Slam final. They had previously defeated top seeds Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Neal Skupski of Great Britain in the quarterfinals. They succeed fellow countrymen Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis as Melbourne's doubles champions. When Rinky invited me to play, "I wasn't sure if I was going to," Kubler admitted. "We received the prize two weeks after that." Hijikata continued, "It has b

In London, Artur Beterbiev defeated Anthony Yarde of Great Britain to retain his WBO, WBC, and IBF light-heavyweight world belts. Eight rounds of spectacular back-and-forth fighting featured both fighters. After shockingly hurting Beterbiev in the fifth round, Yarde was forced to stop the fight in the eighth after being knocked to the ground with a right hand. Beterbiev, a Russian, maintained his perfect knockout record, while Yarde's hunt for a world championship continues. Beterbiev told BT Sport, "I could say it was a bad fight, but I'm sitting here." "Anthony can punch, and so can everyone in this category. I wish him success in the future because he is still young and has time. As it was: Yarde loses to Beterbiev, who has "a monstrous reputation" Beterbiev, who is he? If I'm being completely honest, I was ready for every punch, which is how I kept hitting him back. Yarde won after an intense battle. Despite entering the game as a heavy underdog

Australian Open 2023: Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic square off in the Melbourne final

In his pursuit of a record-tying 22nd men's major championship and a victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Australian Open final, Novak Djokovic said he doesn't feel any difference "in terms of stress." On Sunday, Serbia's Djokovic, 35, takes on the Greek, 24, who is vying for his first Grand Slam victory. Every Grand Slam is a great chance for me to try to win another title, Djokovic acknowledged. "I'm not sure how many more chances I'll get," Tsitsipas will have a difficult time overcoming Djokovic, who has just dropped one set this tournament and hasn't lost in Melbourne since 2018. Tsitsipas claims he "couldn't be more ready at this moment" despite the fact that Djokovic is competing in his 33rd major final and he is only playing in his second. Rybakina loses to Sabalenka, who wins her maiden major singles championship. After Tsitsipas defeats Khachanov's father, controversy was a "misrepresentation," accordi

Thrilling women's Australian Open championship final features Aryna Sabalenka defeating Elena Rybakina.

Aryna Sabalenka, a Belarusian-born player, defeated Elena Rybakina in three sets to win the women's Australian Open championship on Saturday. By doing so, she became the first person playing under a neutral flag to win a grand slam. Tennis Australia, the organization behind the competition, mandated that Russian and Belarusian athletes compete as neutrals due to the continuing crisis in Ukraine. After being outplayed in the first set, Sabalenka turned things around in Melbourne, defeating the defending Wimbledon champion 4-6 6-3 6-4. The fifth seed's decisive victory was made possible by breaking Rybakina's service in the seventh game of a tense third set. This breakthrough was made possible by the fifth seed's vicious serve and aggressive groundstrokes. Rybakina won the first set in 34 minutes, although it appeared as though Sabalenka was having a stressful first set because she committed five double faults and only scored four points on her second serve.  Bloomberg — Usain Bolt, the holder of the world records for the 100 and 200 meters, said on Friday that trying to recover more than $12.7 million that had vanished from his account with a Jamaican investment firm was a "stressful scenario." According to attorney Linton Gordon, who spoke to Reuters on Jan. 17, the 36-year-old Bolt was alerted earlier this month that his account balance at Kingston-based Stocks and Securities Ltd (SSL) had mysteriously dropped to just $12,000. Bolt told reporters on Friday, "It's tough, you know, but I think through the years I've competed it has enabled me to realize and focus on what important." He was introduced as the ambassador of the athletic competition, now in its 50th year, during the Gibson McCook Relays kickoff in Kingston when he gave the speech. The 11-time world champion continued, "I will put the problem in the hands of my lawyer and focus on my family, try not to worry too much about it since it's a s

Images of a renovation to a 200-year-old landmark building in India

An approximately 200-year-old colonial structure in India has been restored thanks to a lengthy conservation project. This month saw the completion of renovations at Hyderabad's Telangana Mahila Viswavidyalayam (formerly Osmania University College for Women). Colonel James Achilles Kirkpatrick lived in the heritage property from 1797 to 1805 while serving as the British representative to the Hyderabad court. The building was eventually transformed into a university. Throughout the years, the building deteriorated as a result of inadequate upkeep, shoddy repairs, and excessive local traffic. The building was added to the World Monuments Fund (WMF) watchlist in 2002, and a 20-year restoration effort was started. The non-profit organization supports historic sites that urgently need to be protected. WMF, local and international charities, as well as private benefactors, provided financing for the restoration of various building components in phases. The final stage of the project, w

Fashion and athletics are similar in Eileen Gu's eyes because "beauty is power."

If Eileen Gu's report of the Freestyle Ski World Cup competition last Saturday in Calgary is any indication, an Olympian's day is as diverse as it is busy: Before heading up to the slopes for the final, she won the morning qualifiers, completed two essays, read some RenĂ© Descartes and George Berkeley for a philosophy class, and "did some physics." "She continued, ignoring the fact that this was her first competitive appearance since the Winter Olympics, "I won that, came back, proofread my essay, turned it in, called it a night at ten, and went to bed. That was therefore one of those days." Gu, who was born in America, was about to make her Olympic debut in Beijing, representing China, her mother's native country, at this time last year. She was already well-known because she was one of the athletes that had the most sponsorships throughout the Games. But few people outside of the skiing community had ever seen her in action. She won three medals,

Without Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins get ready to face the Jets: "I haven't even considered changing my playing status,"

Without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa included in the game plan, the Miami Dolphins are gearing up for their last regular-season game against the New York Jets on Sunday. Following the Dolphins' Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers, Tagovailoa was placed in concussion protocol for the second time this season. Prior to last week's game against the New England Patriots, head coach Mike McDaniel reaffirmed this, stating that Tagovailoa was day-to-day in his recuperation and that the priority was keeping him healthy rather than getting him back on the field. McDaniel stated that the game plan would be created with the assumption that Tagovailoa would miss another week of practice during a press conference with the media on Monday. "There are numerous variables at play. I believe that at this time, I'm preparing for both Teddy and Skylar (Thompson) (Bridgewater). I don't think we should know anything yet about Teddy "Bridgewater, who sustained a finger injury

A minister from Israel's ultranationalist movement visits the Temple Mount

Tuesday marked the first occasion an ultranationalist cabinet member had visited a sensitive holy site in Jerusalem since joining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's new far-right coalition last week. Palestinians view the visit as provocative. A 15-year-old kid was reportedly killed by Israeli army fire earlier in the day close to the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to Palestinian sources. According to the Israeli military, an individual engaged in violent altercations with soldiers was shot by Israeli forces. Itamar Ben-Gvir was accompanied by a large number of police officers when he visited the area in Jerusalem known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. Egypt and Jordan, two of Israel's Arab neighbors, condemned the action, and the U.S. ambassador chastised it. Ben-Gvir has long advocated for increased Jewish access to the holy place, which Palestinians consider provocative and a possible sign that Israel will eventually s

NFL game suspended as player falls on field, according to Damar Hamlin

Gambar
American football star Damar Hamlin collapsed during a primetime US National Football League game and is now in critical condition. The 24-year-old Buffalo Bills player tripped over an opponent during the opening period of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals and fell to the ground. Before being transferred to a nearby hospital, he received approximately 30 minutes of on-field medical care. About an hour after the incident, the NFL decided to call the game off for the evening. As the NFL season moves closer to its dramatic play-off stages, the emergency triggered an outpouring of well-wishes for Hamlin and brought attention back to the dangers of America's most popular sport. In the stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, Hamlin was hitting Bengals receiver Tee Higgins when it looked that Higgins' helmet struck Hamlin in the chest. He got to his feet, then tripped and landed on his back. As CPR and oxygen were administered to Hamlin by medical personnel, players from both teams crowded

Ukraine claimed a missile attack killed hundreds of Russians.

Gambar
According to Ukraine, a missile attack on the seized Donetsk region resulted in the deaths of 400 or more Russian servicemen. Russian officials denied the number, only acknowledging the deaths of 63 of its soldiers. Neither assertion has been proven. A structure in Makiivka, where Russian forces were stationed, was the target of the attack. The confirmation of losses on the battlefield by Moscow is incredibly uncommon. However, due to the severity of the attack, according to the BBC's Russian editor Steve Rosenberg, remaining silent was most likely not an option. According to a statement released by the Russian defense ministry on Monday, Ukrainian forces launched six rockets toward a structure housing Russian troops using the US-made Himars missile system. It said, "Two of them were shot down." According to Daniil Bezsonov, a top Russian-backed official in the occupied portions of Donetsk, the missile hit Makiivka on New Year's Day two minutes after midnight. Sever
