According to the military chief of Ukraine, 40% of the areas seized by Russia have already been liberated.
According to Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, 40% of the areas held after February 24 — when Russia began its invasion of Ukraine — have been liberated in the past year.
In a round-up message from 2022 on the Telegram app, he said that "the Armed Forces liberated 40% of the territory taken during the full-scale invasion and 28% of all territories occupied by Russia since 2014."
According to the general, the frontline is currently 1,500 kilometres long.
Zaluzhny claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received military instruction in 17 different European nations.
"More than 20,000 soldiers were trained thanks to international partners," he stated. "In 2022, more than 2 million tonnes of humanitarian aid were imported and more than 600,000 people were evacuated from the conflict zones."
