Nathan Aspinall loses against Josh Rock in the championship match of the PDC World Tour
In the third round of the PDC World Championship, Josh Rock of Northern Ireland defeated Nathan Aspinall of England 4-3 after winning the decisive set.
He won the first set with a 141 finish before Aspinall dominated the following two.
Rock, the 3-2 leader and the world youth champion, saw his opponent come back to force a deciding.
There is a lot more to come, Rock declared after winning the seventh set 3-1 in legs.
The 21-year-old smashed two straight double 20s to lead 2-0 in the decisive set and then sealed the victory in a nail-biting finish as Aspinall wasted a fantastic opportunity to tie the match at 2-2.
He missed two darts at double four and one at double eight while needing to hit 16.
Rock declared victory after checking out and told Sky Sports: "I was under a great deal of strain. I'm pleased with how nicely I handled it."
He will now face Jonny Clayton, who defeated Brendan Dolan of Northern Ireland with ease, 4-1.
Dimitri van den Bergh of Belgium defeated Krzysztof Ratajski of Poland 4-1 to go to the fourth round.
