Attack in Paris leaves " three people dead and numerous others injured "

Three people have been killed and four others have been injured when a shooter opened fire in central Paris.

Witnesses claimed that the attacker specifically targeted a restaurant and community center for Kurds, and authorities stated they would check into any potential racial motivation.

A 69-year-old suspect was apprehended immediately, and it soon became clear that he had just been released from custody.

Authorities urged people to stay away from Strasbourg-Saint Denis in Paris's 10th arrondissement.

No specific reason for the shooting has been established, but Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated that the suspect had just been freed, a year after he used a sword to attack tents at a migrant camp in Paris.

On December 8, 2021, at Bercy, such occurrence occurred. He had been released, although it was unclear why.

The suspect was also hurt in the shooting, according to the local mayor Alexandra Cordebard, and three locations were targeted: a restaurant, a hair salon, and a Kurdish cultural center. In the salon, there were two shootings.

According to Romain, a restaurant employee, "we observed an old white man arrive, then start shooting in the Kurdish cultural center, then he went to the hairdresser's next door."

One shopkeeper stated, "It's complete pandemonium; we've shut ourselves in."

The witness reported hearing seven or eight gunshot bursts. According to reports, two of the victims of the gunshot are in a critical condition, and two others were gravely hurt.

Without encountering any resistance, police apprehended the man and reportedly found the attack's weapon. Authorities declared that they had started a murder inquiry. Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, commended the police for their prompt action.

Nearly ten years had passed since the January 2013 murder of three Kurdish women in Paris when the attack occurred.

Along with a number of eateries and stores, the cultural center is located on the street next to the Château d'Eau metro station. It was described as a very vibrant place by Alexandra Cordebard.

Another witness reported that emergency personnel were now lining up along the roadway and waiting to be allowed to leave.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that he was traveling to Paris to examine the scene of the "dramatic incident," and he also expressed his sympathies to the friends and families of the victims.
